Mercedes-benz (Thailand) pioneered the bivalent petrol and natural gas powered car in the Thai premium market as long as six years ago with astounding success. Like its petrol-powered siblings, the E200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY ELEGANCE is equipped with a comprehensive array of safety features including the world’s first PRE-SAFE® anticipatory occupant protection system, ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection and warning system, ABS brake system, ESP stability control programme, ASR anti-skid control, dual front airbags, 4-position air-curtains, front occupants’ thorax airbags, NECK-PRO head restraints and lightweight aluminium active bonnet. Debuting the StarFest is the S 500 BlueEFFICIENCY now with efficient new BlueDIRECT twin-turbocharged petrol V8 engine codenamed M278. The new engine incorporates the latest third generation direct-injection petrol technology with high-precision Piezo injectors and rapid Multi-Spark Ignition (MSI) system that enables up to four sparks to be discharged in rapid succession within one millisecond, creating a plasma with a larger spatial expansion than conventional ignition. This combination results in significantly more complete combustion and improved fuel efficiency. Also contributing to the vastly improved efficiency of the unit are new variable hydraulic vane-type camshaft adjusters, new two-stage chain drive, new variable vane-type oil pump and new coolant ducting with 3-phase thermal management. The new BlueDIRECT V8 engine has a capacity of 4,663 cc with maximum output of 320kW or 435hp – a power increase of 12% over the previous engine (formerly 285kW or 388hp) – and 32% increase in torque from 530Nm to 700Nm at a low 1,800-3,500rpm. Fuel economy is improved by as much as 16% at only 10.63km/km. The new S 500 BlueEFFICIENCY Long wheel Base is priced from 11,199,000 Baht.

The C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY Coupé Edition 1 four-seater coupé is powered by a petrol four-cylinder turbocharged 1.8-litre engine that delivers 204hp or 150kW of power and 310 Nm of torque. This enable the car to sprint to 100km/h from standstill in 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h. Thanks to the new, efficient 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission, average fuel economy is 14.3 to 15.4 km/L while CO2 emissions are only 152-163 grams per kilometre.
