Mercedes-Benz Thailand underscores its leadership in environmentally compatible mobility, kicking off 2016 with the Thai debut of its two latest plug-in hybrids. In a test drive on the Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai route, a group of Thai media experienced the performance of these two new models. The S 500 e incorporates the latest plug-in hybrid technology in the luxurious S-Class with impressively low emissions of 62 g CO2/km. It will be sold in Thailand from 6,390,000 baht. The second model is the C 350 e both in sedan and estate variants, with low emissions of just 58 g CO2/km in the sedan model and 54 g CO2/km in the estate. The C 350 e starts at 2,990,000.
Mr Michael Grewe, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited, said: “2016 will continue to see Mercedes-Benz Thailand introducing innovative automobiles that answer the diversified needs and lifestyles of consumers, standing firm on a promise to deliver ‘the best’ offerings embodying our core brand values of perfection and fascination. And to impart new vigour to Thailand’s premium cars scene early in the year, we are debuting the newest plug-in hybrid technology from Mercedes-Benz through the S 500 e and C 350 e. Both new plug-in hybrids not only excel in terms of environmental considerations and efficiency, but also deliver superb performance.”
“Plug-in hybrids are a key technology on the road to the local emission-free future of the automobile,” emphasised Mr Grewe. “Plug-in hybrids offer our customers the best of both worlds; in the city they can drive in all-electric mode, while on long journeys they benefit from the combustion engine’s range. In addition, hybridisation makes the combustion engine more efficient and brings with it a special type of dynamic performance, making driving an absolute pleasure.”
Mr Martin Schulz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, added: “The test drive on the Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai route was designed to give members of the media first hand experience of innovative design, powerful performance and cutting-edge technologies featured in the new automobiles from Mercedes-Benz. Being the two models to premiere our new plug-in hybrid technology in the Thai market, the S 500 e and C 350 e line-up for this test drive comprised more than 18 test cars so the media could sample the distinctive character of each model and variant.”
