The opening qualifying round of the10th Mercedes-Benz Junior Golf Championships kicked-off at the Narai Hill Golf and Country Club, Lopburi on 24 – 25 September. With the exception of some light rain on the first day, the strong field of 167 young golfers enjoyed fine conditions throughout, with Parathakorn Suyasri carding the best score of the tournament with a two under par 142 in the Boys 12 and under class.
Other winners in the two day tournament were Eaktumrong Reunganuruk in the Boys 14 and under class with a score of 147, Kiddee Whatthanasinphanid with an even par 144 took the honours in the Boys 18 and under class and in the newly introduced Boys 23 and under class it was Jedsada Serreewanrob who came home in front with a four over par 148. In the girls classes, Thanrada Piddon triumphed in the 12 and under class with a two day score of 158, Wirunpud Olankitkunchai headed the field in the 14 and under class with a score of150 and it was Thanya Phadthamakitsakul with a total of 148, who took the laurels in the Girls 18 and under class.
The 2nd qualifying round of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Golf Championships will be held at Evergreen Hills Golf Club and Resort in Kanchanaburi on 15 – 16 October 2011.
