Bangkok – Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited is continuing to lead the way in Thailand’s premium car segment, starting in this year with expansion of a new array of technologies including the latest very powerful yet economical 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission system for all driving situations, the inclusive multimedia system COMAND Online in C-Class and E-Class as well as the new BlueDIRECT engine featuring a 16% better fuel economy than predecessor in the S-Class. This is Mercedes-Benz (Thailand)’s latest strategy to boost sales early into this year.
Mr. Martin Schulz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited, reveals that “The year 2011 witnessed continued success of Mercedes-Benz and healthy response from our customers, which sent our sales figures to 4,684 units with strongest contribution from the E-Class and C-Class, respectively. The C-, E- and S-Class will continue to be our key model series into the year 2012 and we are ready to keep offering the best driving innovations and technologies to enhance the pleasure and lifestyle of our customers. In this first quarter, we are introducing the new 7-speed 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission system and COMAND Online multimedia system to both E- and C-Class model series. In addition, we are also introducing to our S-Class the new BlueDIRECT engine, featuring cutting-edge efficiency technologies that enable this engine to consume 16% less fuel than its predecessor.”

As equipped 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission as a standard equipment in 4 models of C-Class, it has been installed in the following E-Class: E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY ELEGANCE, E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY AVANTGARDE ESTATE, E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY Cabriolet and E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY AVANTGARDE Coupe Sports AMG. The COMAND Online has been installed into the following C-Class: C 200 BlueEFFICIENCY, C 200 BlueEFFICIENCY ELEGANCE, C 200 BlueEFFICIENCY AVANTGARDE and E-Class, including E 200 NGT BlueEFFICIENCY, E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY ELEGANCE, E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY AVANTGARDE, E 300 AVANTGARDE Sports. The new BlueDIRECT engine has been installed into our S-Class – the S 500 BlueEFFICIENCY Long Wheelbase”
Mr. Komkrit Nongsawat, General Manager of Marketing and Communications at Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited, reveals that “Our new 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission was developed by improving the spontaneity of torque converter while reducing the noise and friction, resulting in a much-better fuel-saving transmission complete with 2-speed reverse gear. Electronically controlled, this new transmission works smoothly and more powerfully; its lockup torque converter allows better transmission of torque for improved acceleration.
The COMAND Online multimedia system is the telematics and infotainment systems which control the automobile’s multimedia and entertainment tools; it provides unrestricted access to the Internet that allows passengers and drivers to update on news and information – be it maps, weather updates or Google search – at their fingertips. Its easy-to-use interface is ready with LINGUATRONIC voice control to enhance road safety and driving convenience. The drivers need not to divert their attentions from the road while completing other tasks.
